If you are looking for a large area for your furry friend to be able to run around and enjoy himself, the place to visit is Sun Vista Park. A hidden gem to the locals, Sun Vista Park is basically a large field that is kept clean and mowed. The park is conveniently located west of Interstate 5 via Olivenhain Road and Rancho Sante Fe Road.
“Glad we checked out this hidden gem. Our small pack loved checking out all the cool plants.”
“This is our favorite local dog park – basically one large grassy lawn that’s kept clean and mowed. It’s off-leash 6-9am & 3-8pm M, W, F, Sun. If you’re looking for dogs to socialize with, the best time to show up is around 5PM weekdays.”
“Sun Vista Park is a nice playground for my kids and my pups. It’s safe for everyone and the walking trail is excellent”.
“Just installed sun shades. Great playground structure.”
The locals of Encinitas love this park mainly as a dog park for their furry friends to exercise and play, but it truly is more than just a dog park. Sun Vista Park is located in a residential area just off Rancho Sante Fe Road, and features a good-sized play structure, with a sports court underneath. There is also a sand area for digging, with a little hand-operated digger, a “flying saucer” and swings. Everything a neighborhood playground needs, including a walking trail. If you would like to have a picnic in the park, there are several benches and tables next to the play areas. An added feature is their location under a gazebo, providing a good amount of shade.
Sun Vista Park is a neighborhood park, but little accidents can happen anywhere, especially when you aren’t expecting them. If you take a tumble and are in need of specialized care, you are lucky that one of Encinitas best chiropractic offices is located closeby. Innate Health and Healing is a mere 4.2 miles west.
Driving directions:
If you like to relax and enjoy some retail therapy after spending the morning at the park, the Encinitas Village Square Shopping Center is conveniently located just 3.6 miles southwest via North Rancho Sante Fe Road and Encinitas Boulevard/Highway S9.
While Sun Vista Park is the perfect local attraction to visit time and time again, there is also another local, larger park you can visit with your family and pets: the Encinitas Community Park.
