In short, our tagline is simple: Posture! Performance!! Prevention!!!
Drugs and invasive treatments are designed to modify, or sometimes mask, your body's built-in warning systems, or ‘check engine lights’. Our primary focus is NOT just your pain or symptoms. While we DO initially dedicate ourselves to provide relief of your symptoms, we DON'T just stop there. Our ultimate goal is the detection and elimination of imbalances and structural distortions that CAUSE the ‘check engine light’ to turn on in the first place.
Knowledge is Power so we dedicate time to EDUCATE you regarding the most common preventable day-to-day causes for your mechanical breakdowns/movement disorders. Next, we work to EMPOWER your body's natural recovery processes. Finally, we will EQUIP you with an action plan essential for you to personally stabilize, strengthen and maintain the progress we begin in our facility. We are passionate about helping you restore as much structural and functional integrity as possible, and then providing you with the tools to manage it yourself!
One of my heroes growing up was the 70’s TV personality, Marcus Welby, MD. I knew from age 5 that I wanted to use my brain to help people solve health issues that kept them from reaching their potential to live vibrant lives. I have always loved solving puzzles and figuring out how things work and believing I was called to help people totally jazzed me.
So I began my quest to becoming a Medical Doctor. I pursued pre-medical studies, but as I was preparing to finish my undergraduate prerequisites things began to change. Allopathic medicine began the shift towards diagnostic algorithms and away from hands-on patient centric care. It also began shifting towards pharmacology and socialization. I was disenfranchised with the writing I saw on the wall and stepped away from college 21 hours short of graduation.
Floundering with no direction, after a couple of years of military service, I returned to Louisiana with no goals and very little hope. I worked a series of jobs in sales, from cars to copiers and satellite dishes to toner supplies. Then to make this worse, I strained my low back lifting a copier and was sent by my employer to a chiropractor for a worker’s comp case.
Initially, I didn’t think much of chiropractic, because in my mind they weren’t “real” doctors like the medical counterparts. The chiropractors I was seeing laughed as I shared this and they challenged me to investigate their philosophy and education. So I did just that. And the deeper I investigated, the more I realized chiropractic philosophy matches how I believe the body works.
I have had a broad spectrum of challenges in my health history from my active lifestyle: from 7 concussions and 3 whiplashes from sports injuries and auto accidents, 2 herniated discs in my neck and 1 herniation in my low back with associated TMJ dysfunction, migraines, and thoracic outlet syndrome to plantar fasciitis and ITB syndrome from marathon running to mention a few.
Every health concern I presented with benefited from the chiropractic care I received. So much so, that I had an epiphany. I was actually called to be a Doctor of Chiropractic!
The science, art and philosophy of chiropractic completely resonates with what I think and believe about God’s greatest creation... the human body.
“Healing comes from above-down and from the inside-out.” “The power that made the body is the power that heals the body.” “The body needs no help, just no interference.” “There is a vast difference between treating effects and adjusting the cause.” “Medicine is the study of disease and what causes man to die. Chiropractic is the study of health and what causes man to live.”
So I am on a mission. I am on a constant and never ending journey to become the best Doctor of Chiropractic I can be. And with each day in practice, I am more and more amazed at the human body and its potential. We truly are fearfully and wonderfully made and I am blessed to practice in my calling with passion!
